DURHAM KITCHEN UPDATE WITH BUILT-IN LAUNDRY AREA

A modern look for a '70s home.

After more than 40 years since the house was built, the owners decided it was time for a kitchen remodel. Instead of replacing all the cabinets, they opted to get new doors and drawer fronts and paint the kitchen. In this process we made simple modifications to some of the cabinets to accommodate new appliances. Together with an elegant grey and quartz countertops, all these changes give the kitchen a brandnew, modern look.

Another aspect of this project was the laundry area, which used to be in a closet in the kitchen. The closet was removed and in its place we designed built-ins to match the kitchen cabinets. Now the washer and dryer are hidden behind cabinet pocket-doors, and a countertop provides more opportunity for workspace or decoration.
